The article reports on the inauguration of the Complejo del Ibérico de Extremadura (CIBEX), the largest Iberian pig slaughterhouse in Extremadura, Spain. The project, a collaboration between seven companies and supported by the Minister of Agriculture and the President of the Junta de Extremadura, has been funded to the tune of 23 million euros, with 6.2 million earmarked for rural development. The facility is renowned for its energy efficiency, resource optimization, and acceptable animal welfare standards. The project is anticipated to create around 200 direct jobs and over 800 indirect jobs.
