Spain: Ham exports increase through the third quarter

According to data from the Spanish Serrano Ham Consortium (CJSE), exports of Spanish cured hams/shoulders through the third quarter of 2022 reached 40,595.68 tons, an increase of 10.78% compared to the same period in 2021 (36,644.25 t). Likewise, exports totaled €420,408,798.48, representing an increase of 15.47% compared to the previous year. Countries in the European Union imported a total of 28,253.15 t during this period (+6.11%), while Third Countries imported 12,342.53 t (+23.20%). Thus, in the first nine months of the year, the EU accounted for 69.6% of cured ham exports. Within the EU, the main markets for Serrano have continued to be France (+10.73%), followed by Germany (-4.8%), which account for 50% of total exports of this product.
