Spain: Ham exports to grow until the third quarter of 2022

According to data from the Consorcio del Jamón Serrano Español (CJSE), exports of Spanish cured hams/flats until the third quarter of 2022 totaled 40,595.68 tons, an increase of 10.78% compared to the same period in 2021 ( 36,644.25 t). Likewise, exports reached 420,408,798.48 euros, an increase of 15.47% compared to the previous year. European Union countries imported a total of 28,253.15 t during this period (+6.11%), while third countries registered a volume of 12,342.53 t (+23.20%). Thus, during the first nine months of the year, the EU was responsible for 69.6% of cured ham exports. Within the EU, the main markets for Serrano ham continue to be France (+10.73%), followed by Germany (-4.8%), which represents 50% of total exports of this product.
