Ukraine is a key supplier of various agricultural products to Spain and the global market, including wheat, corn, sunflower, flour, and sunflower oil. Spain relies heavily on Ukraine for its maize imports, accounting for 22% of the country's total imports, and is also a significant importer of sunflower bagasse and oil. The disruption in these imports, coupled with price increases, could lead to critical short-term supply issues. The Spanish Ministry of Agriculture will bring these concerns to the European Commission, seeking urgent measures to improve the availability of these raw materials.
