The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food in Spain is participating in a European Union artificial intelligence (AI) and agri-food robotics project called AgrifoodTEC, the largest of its kind in the EU with a global investment of 60 million euros. The Spanish node of the project, located at MAPA La Vega Innova, has a budget of five million euros, funded equally by the Agriculture department and the European Commission. The initiative aims to accelerate the development of AI and robotics solutions for the agricultural sector. The Spanish satellite node will be strategically located in Córdoba, A Coruña, and Lleida, with a focus on various subsectors such as arable crops, horticulture, extensive livestock farming, the food industry, forage production, and dairy production.
