Spain is among the leading countries in fish and shellfish consumption, with 84% of its population eating fish at least once a week, according to a study by the Norwegian Seafood Council. The consumption of salmon is particularly high, with many Spaniards eating it once a week, and there has been an increase in salmon consumption over the past six months. The Norwegian Seafood Council plans to launch a major marketing campaign in Spain in 2022 to boost the consumption of Norwegian origin species such as salmon, which is already well-known in Spain as a product of Norwegian origin. The marketing campaign is expected to provide a significant opportunity for fishmongers and distributors in Spain.
