Published on July 1st, Royal Decree 562/2025, relating to controls and other official activities carried out on the agri-food chain and related operations, went into effect on July 3rd. This Royal Decree contemplates the technological and scientific advances that have occurred since the previous regulations, such as the computerization of the Administration, scientific advances, and the requirements applicable to official control laboratories. There are also new societal demands, such as the greater demand for information or the rise of food and other product trading through websites or social networks. According to Aesan, this regulation will entail an essential change and modernization in the performance of official control services throughout the entire food chain. The bureaucratic burden will be reduced and it will facilitate the digitization of all processes and greater transparency towards citizens.
