In 2024, Spain's agri-food sector solidified its position as a crucial part of national exports, achieving a 5.9% increase to €74.231 billion, with a record trade surplus of €18.449 billion, according to Cajamar. Over two decades, the sector's export value has quadrupled, now accounting for 19% of Spain's total exports. The sector's average annual growth rate of 7.8% over the past five years surpassed the 5.7% growth for all goods. Significant growth was noted in olive oil and fruits and vegetables, while exports of pork, fish, seafood, and wine declined. Exports to non-EU countries rose by 9.5%, notably to the US and Algeria. Olive oil led as the top export, followed by fruits and vegetables, with Andalusia, Catalonia, and the Valencian Community as the top exporting regions.
