Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez's recent visit to Beijing led to the signing of two phytosanitary protocols, enabling Spain to export almonds and fresh persimmons to China. The Spanish Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPA) and the General Administration of Customs of China have established strict requirements for exporting these products, including the establishment of a quality management system, traceability, and adherence to Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) and Integrated Pest Management (IPM). The export process will be recorded in the CEXVEG procedure, ensuring compliance with export conditions and traceability. This builds on the existing bilateral agreement, which already allowed for the export of Spanish citrus, peaches, plums, table grapes, fodder oats, olive paste, and dehydrated alfalfa to China.
