The Interprofessional Organization of Beef Meat of Spain (Provacuno) has indicated that there is "tranquility" in the sector regarding the imposition of additional quotas and tariffs by China on the import of this food, since this market "is closed to Spanish beef and beef offal". This was pointed out on Friday to Efeagro by the director general of Provacuno, Javier López, who stated that, therefore, "it does not directly affect them" the decision of China to impose from January 1st specific entry quotas for beef by country and an additional tariff of 55% for imports that exceed those limits. "Currently our problem is the reduction of production and we would not have enough quantity to supply the Chinese market, nor the price, which being so high in Spain and throughout Europe makes access very difficult" to that country, he added.
