Spanish meat exports to non-EU countries saw a significant increase of 53% in 2020 compared to the previous year, totaling 2,010,000 tonnes. Pork was the primary meat product exported, followed by poultry and processed meat. The new markets tapped by Spanish meat exporters include New Zealand and Argentina. China, Japan, and the Philippines were the leading recipients of these meat exports. The European Commission reported an 11.9% increase in total meat exports from the EU in the first three quarters of 2020, excluding the UK, despite the pandemic.
