Spanish peach, paraguaya, and nectarine production could drop by 5% this year

Peach, paraguaya, and nectarine production in Spain could reach 1.13 million tons this year, representing a 5% drop compared to 2024, although it would be 8% higher than the average of the last five years. These are the projections discussed during the recent European Pêch Forum in Perpignan (France). These figures could be revised downward, as they do not yet reflect the impact of recent hail episodes in important Spanish production areas, such as Catalonia, Aragon, and Murcia. To that volume would be added a pavía production of just over 300,000 tons, 5% less than in 2024, but 5% higher than the 2020-24 period average. Projections for the four main EU producing countries—Spain, Italy, Greece, and France—point to a volume of 2.57 million tons of peach, paraguaya, and nectarine, 12% less than last year.
