Spanish wine exports have experienced a positive growth in the first four months of 2024, with an increase of 7.9% in volume and 5.5% in value compared to the same period in 2023. This growth is primarily due to the performance in January, February, and April, which offset the negative performance in March. In April, exports saw a significant increase of 18.2% in value and 16.3% in volume compared to April 2023. However, the data for the first nine months of the 2023/2024 campaign showed a slight decrease in value but an increase in volume. Packaged wines, which make up 81.6% of the total value of Spanish wine exports, have seen a decrease in both volume and value year-on-year, while bulk wines have seen an increase in value and volume. The United States continued to be the top destination for Spanish bottled wines in value, while Germany surpassed Portugal as the leading destination in volume.
