Specialists from the All-Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography conducted an expedition to Lake Baikal and fish farms in the Republic of Buryatia

The article highlights a significant initiative aimed at replenishing the genetic database of fish species in the Baikal fishery basin, a critical step towards understanding the genetic structure of these aquatic species. This project is part of the larger federal project 'Preservation of Lake Baikal,' with the scientific expedition conducted by the Tyumen branch. The team will not only collect necessary materials for the database but also conduct diagnostics for various diseases, including viral, bacterial, fungal, and parasitic infections, during the office processing phase.
