A fishing ban is set to begin on April 15 in all Turkish seas, lasting until September 1, 2023, as part of efforts to protect fish populations and promote sustainability in aquaculture. The Union of Chambers of Agriculture of Turkey (TZOB) has emphasized the importance of adhering to these restrictions. The country has seen a decrease in fish dependency through hunting and an increase in aquaculture production, with a per capita consumption remaining significantly lower than in developed countries. The TZOB has called for measures to increase aquatic product consumption and stressed the need for sustainable fishing practices, including adherence to regulations on fish size and hunting times.
