Egypt: 20.4% decrease in grain imports during the first 4 months of 2023

Data from the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics revealed a decrease in the value of Egyptian imports of grain, to record $1.9 billion during the first four months of 2023, compared to $2.3 billion during the same period in 2022, a decrease of 20.4%. The top ten cereals imported by Egypt during the first four months of 2023 were: 1. Wheat, worth $1.1 billion. 2. Corn used in the feed industry, with a value of $691.9 million. 3. Rice, worth $51.4 million. 4. Other than seed corn, with a value of $15.7 million. 5. Maize seeds, valued at $2.6 million. 6. Sorghum: $1.3 million. 7. Yellow maize seeds, worth 854.1 thousand dollars. 8. Birdseye cereal, worth $566.5 thousand. 9. Oats, worth $69.3 thousand. 10. Yellow corn, worth $23,000.
