The State of the Crops report from the Agricultural and Fisheries Information Service of the Junta de Andalucía for the first week of May reveals that greenhouse producers in the Poniente Almeriense region are making the last cuts in single-crop pepper plantations and uprooting other crops. Tomato plantations are in full harvest, and most aubergine productions have been harvested. The cucumber spring harvest is in full production, but prices need to improve for producers to keep the crop. Zucchini plantations are in full harvest, and Cantaloupe, Galia, and Amarillo melon varieties are being harvested due to favorable temperatures. However, watermelon greenhouses are experiencing issues with curdling cucumbers due to increased temperatures, and watermelon greenhouses are in full harvest with high production and quality, but prices are tending to decrease.
