The Stavropol Territory in Russia has begun exporting high-purity lactose, a product with numerous health benefits, with a shipment of 5 tons earning $7,500 in 2021, nearly doubling the previous year's export. The product is primarily exported to Belarus for use in medicines and dietary supplements, with some also going to Azerbaijan and other countries. The Stavropolsky dairy plant, which produces the lactose, has seen a significant increase in production and has fully automated its shop for food and pharmacopoeial lactose. Additionally, the region has experienced a surge in exports of modified starch products, sunflower oil, confectionery, canned meat, chocolate, mineral water, and sweet glazed drinks, as part of a regional project aimed at exporting agricultural products.
