The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries in Japan has reached an agreement with the Philippine quarantine authorities to lift the ban on the export of fresh strawberries from Japan to the Philippines, effective December 15. This decision comes after technical discussions to address concerns about pests, with the Japanese ministry agreeing to quarantine conditions including registration of production and packaging facilities, investigation of pest occurrence, pesticide residue and microbial testing before export, and inspection by Philippine inspectors. Exporters in Japan are advised to contact the Plant Quarantine Station and the Horticultural Crops Division for the necessary procedures.
