Strong start to plum harvest in Moldova

“We can conclude that the start of our plum export season is strong, as 6,500 tons of plums have already been exported, of which 4,000 tons to the EU market in Germany, Austria and Croatia,” says Iurie Fala, CEO of the Association of Fruit Growers and Exporters Moldova Fruct. "This year's plum harvest is expected to reach a significant 85,000 tons, marking a return to normal conditions after last year's drought-affected harvest. Of this harvest, 70,000 tons are intended for export. The main export products are renowned varieties such as Stanley, President and Cacanska Ran, which are known for their unique taste and quality,” says Fala. "Investments in fruit quality and compliance with international standards have boosted Moldovan plum exports: more than 50% of last year's shipments reached the EU.
