Study proves effectiveness of native blueberry 'Jeong-geum-namu' extract in reducing Helicobacter pylori

Gyeonggi Province has successfully registered a patent after conducting research on an extract from the native blueberry, "Jeonggeum Tree," which is native to the mountainous regions of South Korea, over a period of 10 years. The Gyeonggi Provincial Forest Environment Research Institute announced on November 2, 2021, that the patent application for a "composition for preventing, treating, or improving Helicobacter pylori infection" as a duty invention of the Gyeonggi Provincial Government was filed four years after the application and was registered in August. The Gyeonggi Provincial Forest Environment Research Institute discovered through cell experiments on extracts from Jeonggeum Tree berries that it has antibacterial properties against Helicobacter pylori bacteria.
