The Undersecretariat of Fisheries and Aquaculture in Chile participated in the 'First Pelagic Purse Seiner Seminar in Chile/OROP-PS' to analyze the horse mackerel fishery in the South Pacific. The event was attended by authorities, professionals, and artisanal fishermen, and focused on stock evaluation, capture quota, and Chile's proposal to increase the resource stabilizer. The horse mackerel fishery is declaring full exploitation and is divided into four fishery units in different regions. Chile is the world leader in exporting fresh and frozen horse mackerel, accounting for 28% of the global market share.
