Malaysia: Subsidy of general purpose wheat flour is transferred to the Payung Rahmah program

KUALA LUMPUR: Subsidizing wheat flour for general use, worth RM40 million, has been moved into the Payung Rahmah program expenditure details through the 2024 Budget. Deputy Minister of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Fuziah Salleh said the allocation for general purpose wheat flour was included in the RM200 million allocation for the Payung Rahmah program. "In the details in the 2023 Budget, there is detail 040600 which is the general purpose wheat flour subsidy which is RM40 million, in the 2024 Budget this detail is missing and was asked in this House. "For this flour for general use, this RM40 million ringgit, we set aside the budget but it was never claimed, because no factory wants to make flour for general use and the people never asked for it either.
