Sugar Company has communicated its intention to present a collective dismissal that would affect the seven centers it has in Spain, which encompass a workforce of 950 workers between permanent and seasonal employees.
The company communicated last Monday, May 19, to the works committees its intention to present a job termination file (ERE), without providing further details, according to the president of the inter-center committee, Federico Muñoz, representative of Workers' Commissions (CCOO) in Castilla y León.
Azucarera has given them seven days to form a negotiating commission, and Muñoz hopes they can meet with the company next week to learn the details of this collective dismissal.
From Workers' Commissions they acknowledge that the news has not caught the workforce off guard, as a few weeks ago the company already indicated that a restructuring was necessary due to the problems being registered in the sugar sector.
