Brazil: Sugar exports in Paraná ports reach exceptional growth in March

Ports in Paraná recorded an impressive increase in sugar exports during the month of March. Bulk sugar movement reached 419,899 tons, an increase of 352% compared to the same period in 2023, when the volume was just 93 thousand tons. Exports of sugar in bags also grew significantly, from 18,004 tons in March 2023 to 70,220 tons in 2024, representing an increase of 289%. These numbers reflect Paraná's excellent sugar cane harvest in 2023, which reached 35.2 thousand tons, an increase of 11% compared to the previous year, according to data from the Department of Rural Economy (Deral). This performance helped to boost foreign trade, consolidating Paraná producers as main exporters through the Port of Paranaguá.
