Azucarera denied on Thursday the alleged closure of its plant in Jerez de la Frontera and assured that the facility continues to operate normally as a crude oil refinery, an activity it has been developing since 2008 and which maintains 218 jobs. The company, in a press release, has described the claims of the agricultural organization COAG Andalucía as "completely false," according to which the Jerez factory would have ceased its activity. "The plant continues its work as a refinery, a function it has been performing uninterruptedly for 17 years," it stated. Furthermore, Azucarera denied that it plans to invest 42 million dollars in Paraguay to move part of its production to that country.
