São Paulo's agribusiness trade balance had a record surplus of US$23.34 billion in 2023, driven by the strong performance of sugar cane production. The state's sugarcane production reached 364 million tons in the 2023/2024 harvest, the largest in the history of the region, resulting in increased sugar and ethanol exports totaling US$12.63 billion. São Paulo's agribusiness is also prominent in the production and export of other products such as orange juice, soybeans, corn, and coffee.
