The Korea Agricultural Research Institute reports a decline in summer cabbage and radish production due to high temperatures, drought, and reduced cultivation areas, leading to higher wholesale prices. Conversely, onion production is expected to increase, resulting in lower prices, while garlic production is anticipated to decline due to poor weather and disease. The cultivation area for dried peppers in 2024 is expected to remain stable. As of June 30, the cultivation area is similar to the previous year but 12% less than the average year. July shipments of tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, melons, and watermelons are expected to increase, causing a decline in wholesale prices, though prices may fluctuate due to the rainy season. Melon supply in June surged by 49%, leading to a 29% price drop. Additionally, orange and kiwi imports in July are expected to rise due to favorable harvests in Australia and New Zealand.
