In 2022, the cultivated area in Navarra remained largely stable at 324,701 hectares, a slight decrease of 0.03% from the previous year. Despite the global drought impact, the region experienced a significant increase in the cultivation of sunflowers by 44% and rapeseed by nearly 30%, attributed mainly to rising vegetable oil prices. Corn cultivation also saw a 28% increase. However, the area for industrial tomatoes saw a dramatic decrease of approximately 35% due to the severe drought conditions. These findings are based on comprehensive field research conducted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food in Spain.
