In the Rangpur agricultural region, farmers have achieved a super bumper production of 1,407 tonnes of sunflower seeds, which is 154 percent higher than the set target, covering 1,407 hectares of land. This production surge is attributed to the Department of Agricultural Extension's incentives and post-flood rehabilitation efforts that encouraged more farming. However, farmers are currently facing challenges as local middlemen are offering only Taka 50 per kg for sunflower seeds, instead of the expected Taka 80 per kg. The Department is assisting farmers in preserving the seeds and producing oil from them to ensure fair pricing and local self-reliance.
