In Kayseri, 660 tons of chickpea, green lentil, dry bean, and four-mixture forage crop seeds were distributed to farmers with a 50 percent grant by the Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry and the Metropolitan Municipality. Metropolitan Mayor Memduh Büyükkılıç said in his speech at the seed distribution ceremony held in the Kadir Has Congress Center parking lot that they continue to support farmers to ensure that people live in the place where they were born. Expressing that they periodically distribute seeds to farmers to activate agricultural areas, Büyükkılıç said, "There was a bit of drought in our Sultan Sazlığı last year. We provided support for seeds that do not require much water to be planted here. We persuaded the citizens there to stop planting corn, silage, and beets, to prefer less water-demanding crops, and we distributed these seeds." he said. Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry Bülent Saklav stated that Kayseri ranks fifth in the country in terms of the size of cultivated areas and the amount of plant production.
