The European Commission has approved a financial aid package of 15 million euros for Portugal's wine producers, which can be doubled with national funds. This move aims to aid small and medium-sized grape producers, who are facing difficulties in selling their products and at low prices, especially in the Douro Demarcated Region. The Portuguese Government is urged by the CNA to utilize all available funds and to also support non-wine producing grape farmers. The CNA also suggests structural interventions such as halting the liberalization of vineyard planting rights in the EU, limiting unnecessary wine and must imports, promoting exports, and opening production channels. They also call for the completion of the electoral process of Casa do Douro in the Douro Demarcated Region.
