Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University and the Tokat Governorship Special Provincial Administration are supporting the cultivation of sweet potatoes, which have shown to yield 5 tons per decare in the Tokat-Kazova and Niksar plain. Dr. Yasin Bedrettin Karan, a faculty member at the university, has been conducting trials since 2016 and has found that the sweet potato, rich in nutrients like beta carotene, vitamin A, B complex, vitamin D, vitamin C, protein, and mineral substances, can be a good diet plant due to its low glycemic index and lack of cholesterol. The aim is to increase sweet potato production and offer the production material to farmers.
