Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University, in partnership with the Tokat Governorship Special Provincial Administration, is set to distribute sweet potatoes to farmers in the region, following successful trial productions since 2016. The sweet potatoes, which are grown in over 100 countries, have shown a yield of 5 tons per decare in Tokat-Kazova and Niksar. Dr. Yasin Bedrettin Karan, a faculty member involved in the research, highlighted the nutritional benefits of sweet potatoes, including their high vitamin A and C content, and their low fat and cholesterol levels. The project aims to provide an alternative crop for farmers and boost the regional economy.
