The International Potato Center has played a pivotal role in introducing climate-resilient sweet potato varieties to over six million households across more than a dozen African countries. These varieties have been developed to thrive in various climate stresses, providing an alternative to traditional grain-based crops that are increasingly struggling due to drought. This initiative aims to enhance the resilience of small-scale farmers by improving the availability and accessibility of nutritious food sources, thereby strengthening food security and improving livelihoods in the face of adverse environmental conditions.
