The International Conference 'Table Grapes of Ukraine 2022: Moldova's Experience' was held on November 2, hosted by the Federation of Agricultural Producers of Moldova, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations. The conference aimed to address the mystery behind Ukraine's continued import of table grapes while Moldova exports up to 80,000 tons annually, a best achieved in 2017. The conference also discussed the strategy of selling grapes fresh, the difference in storage infrastructure between Moldovan and Ukrainian viticulture, and the challenges faced in forming large batches of homogeneous quality grapes in Ukraine. Despite producing 236,000 tons of grapes in 2019 and 103,000 tons in 2021, Ukraine still imports grapes due to issues of varietal composition and quality. The conference also touched on the adjustments in the table grape market, underscored by the uncertainty of the upcoming season and the potential for overproduction, leading to low product prices.
