Thanks to the timely attention to the phytosanitary alert due to the presence of the fruit fly in the Tacna region, concrete actions are being carried out to protect the agricultural production of the Valle de Cinto and successfully ensure the 2026 export campaign, one of the most important for the local economy. In a coordinated effort, personnel from the Municipalidad Provincial Jorge Basadre, through the Palto Vid project, and the Servicio Nacional de Sanidad Agraria (Senasa) carried out an integrated control operation that included actions of cultural, chemical, ethological, and legal control. During the operation, fallen fruits, mainly peaches, were collected and buried, and fig trees were cleaned, key actions to eliminate the pest in its larval stage.
