According to Taiwan's Ministry of Agriculture, the country is strengthening its international marketing and distribution networks to stabilize the supply chains of agricultural exports, placing fruits, such as pineapples and bananas, at the core of this strategy. The ministry indicated that it is collaborating with major retailers, distributors, and representative offices abroad to expand sales channels and ensure long-term demand for Taiwanese fruits in high-end export markets. This approach combines market promotion, logistics coordination, and closer cooperation with foreign buyers to support regular export flows. The pineapple remains one of the flagship fruits of Taiwanese export. In 2025, the country exported 16,892 tons of pineapples, worth 750 million NT$ (approximately 23.4 million US dollars), to markets such as Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore, South Korea, Australia, Canada, and New Zealand. Japan has become a particularly important outlet, with more than 19,000 tons exported to this country in 2024, reflecting sustained efforts to develop high-value foreign markets. To support these exports, authorities are investing in modernizing the supply chain, including improving cold chain logistics, traceability systems, and pest control measures. These measures aim to ensure product quality and compliance with international phytosanitary standards, while enhancing the reliability of shipments to global buyers. The ministry stated that the continuous development of overseas marketing channels and the diversification of export destinations are essential to maintain stable agricultural trade, especially as producers seek to reduce their dependence on single markets and adapt to changing global demand trends. source: moa.gov.tw photo: agri-en.kcg.gov.tw
