For the first time, Tajikistan exported over 60 tons of apricots to Italy in the first quarter of 2024, as part of a larger exhibition of Tajik fruits at the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in Rome. The country, which has favorable climatic conditions for apricot growth, has created 64 thousand hectares of apricot orchards and exports up to 90 thousand tons of dried fruits annually, primarily dried apricots. During President Emomali Rahmon's official visit to Rome, where he met with Italian leaders and signed seven cooperation agreements, an investment forum also took place, resulting in agreements worth over $160 million.
