Tanzania's Ministry of Agriculture has announced that the necessary procedures to export avocados to China have been completed, effective Aug. 14. The ministry, through social media, informed farmers and traders that they can now export Hass, Fuerte, and Pinkerton avocados to China, but exporters must register with China's General Administration of Customs and adhere to Chinese guidelines. Additionally, avocado farms, packhouses, and fumigation facilities must be registered with the Tanzania Plant Health and Pesticides Authority and obtain traceability codes. This development comes as Tanzania's avocado exports have seen a significant increase in recent years, with the European Union, the United Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates, South Africa, and other countries being key markets.
