A presidential decree has introduced a tariff quota for the import of oil sunflower seeds and crude sunflower oil, with allocation to companies that purchase domestic sunflower seeds. The measure aims to ensure supply security, meet domestic needs, and encourage domestic production. The tariff quota, with an 8% customs duty for seed imports and 20% for raw sunflower oil imports, will be in effect from July 1 to November 30, allowing imports if the purchase is made from farmers between January 1 and April 30, 2025, to prevent damage to domestic producers. The Ministry of Commerce and the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry will monitor the market to implement necessary regulations and protect consumers from speculative price movements.
