Thailand's Ministry of Industry and Trade reports a surge in the production of its six main fruits, with durian, mangosteen, and lychee seeing the largest increases. Durian cultivation is projected to expand to 203 thousand hectares by 2025, leading to an estimated output of nearly 1.7 million tons. Longan production has also increased due to favorable weather and enhanced farming practices. Despite a decrease in the mangosteen cultivation area, output is expected to rise by 35%. Rambutan production is anticipated to grow by 14%, despite a reduction in cultivated area. Longan and lychee production have increased despite a decrease in cultivated area due to unfavorable prices leading farmers to switch to more profitable crops.
