The "Early Warning for the Management of Potato Late Blight" project, funded by Fontagro, has come to an end after nearly 4 years, during which it conducted 63 workshops, seminars, and field days, training nearly 3,000 people. The project, involving specialists from Chile, Argentina, Ecuador, and Panama, aimed to implement early warning systems for the potato late blight disease. The initiative saw a 53% reduction in fungicide applications, a 56% decrease in the environmental impact index, and a 60% reduction in costs. Additionally, a genetic map of the pathogen was prepared, and over 2,900 people were trained on integrated management, use of alert systems, and good agricultural practices.
