The 2021 cider apple harvest in the Euskal Sagardoa region is expected to yield five million kilos, with high quality and abundance, despite some delays due to summer weather. The apples are healthy and are expected to yield a slightly lower alcohol content than the previous year. The Denomination of Origin is working to increase production, strengthen the sector, and guarantee quality by establishing agreements with apple producers and cider houses. The region has 250 apple producers and 480 hectares of apple orchards, all of which supply apples to the 48 cider houses of the Denomination of Origin in Gipuzkoa, Bizkaia, and Álava. A promotional campaign for Euskal Sagardoa is set to launch in Gipuzkoa in September.
