Spain: The 24-25 sugar beet campaign kicks off at ACOR, in which it is expected to grind 1,300,000 tons from more than 12,000 hectares

The ACOR sugar factory in Olmedo began to grind the first beets of the 1,300,000 tons planned from 12,154 hectares this Monday, 21st, 20% more than last season. The harvesting began on September 30th and on October 11th the beets from all the provinces of Castilla y León began to be delivered. The rains that fell during these 10 days, more than 100 liters per square meter in several points of the Community, have forced work to be done on less heavy plots. In each area, from the Agronomic Service, the planning of the harvesting has been carried out taking into account the relevant information of each plot, such as the polarization, the texture of the soil and the sowing date, since the beet sowings of this campaign were carried out in a staggered manner between the months of March, April and May due to the weather. This fact conditions the planning of the uprooting, since this crop needs a cycle of 180-220 days. The average discount of the 1,200 hectares uprooted has been 6%. ...
