Among the hundreds of animals filling the pavilions of the Zafra International Livestock Fair, one has become the sensation of the public: a tiny foal of just ten days, born in Almonte and brought along with its mother by Andalusian ranchers to showcase the nobility of the Andalusian donkey. It is a breed in critical danger of extinction and that keeps alive the memory of the rural world. The newborn - still unnamed - is capturing the attention of both adults and children. Its image alongside the mother donkey has become a symbol of this edition of the fair: it appears in the promotional images of the City Council and the Royal Federation of Elite Livestock. "It has been a total success, people ask about them and come to see them with enormous affection," says the president of the National Association of Andalusian Purebred Donkeys (Asnopra), Álvaro Jiménez, in an interview with EFE.
