The area planted with rice in Argentina grew by 8.4%

Rice planting in the Argentine Republic is complete, with a trend towards an increase in the area at the national level of 8.4%, which would represent an increase of 17,050 hectares. The area cultivated with the cereal in the new 2024/25 campaign would be the most important since the 2014/15 cycle. The Corrientes Association of Rice Planters and the Cereal Exchanges indicated that it is important to highlight that, although in recent weeks there was a drop in the price of the cereal, currently the price of long fine paddy rice is 320 dollars per ton. With this price, the indifference yield for the case of the long fine commercial type (which covered 81% of the total area in the 2023/24 cycle), would be approximately between 7,000 and 7,500 kg/ha (value achievable with the appropriate technology) and, therefore, positive gross margins are estimated.
