The average price of agricultural land in Spain increased by 3.9% in 2023 to 9,967 euros/hectare, as per the Ministry of Agriculture's report. However, after adjusting for inflation, the price actually decreased by 2.2%. The report also noted two methodological changes: a shift in data source and the adoption of 2020 as the base year. The report also highlighted increases in the prices of land used for crops under plastic and dry land nuts, while prices for subtropical and tropical crops and meadows decreased slightly. The Canary Islands, Murcia, and La Rioja had the highest land prices, whereas Castilla y León, Aragón, Extremadura, Castilla-La Mancha, and Cantabria had the lowest. Land prices also varied across autonomous communities, with increases in the Balearic Islands and Murcia, and decreases in Cantabria and the Basque Country.
