Ukraine: Cabinet of Ministers approves a bill to combat food counterfeiting

The government supported the bill, which sets additional requirements for the labeling and sale of food products and improves existing legislation in the food sector. The implementation of this bill will prevent unfair competition in the field of food production, ensure proper traceability of food products, update and supplement the terminology, as well as harmonize national legislation with European. This is stated in the message of the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine. "Further support and implementation of this bill will strengthen the fight against counterfeiting, provide consumers with complete, reliable information about food and increase responsibility for violating the requirements for the production and circulation of food," said Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine Iryna Novikova.
