(Hongseong=Yonhap News) Reporter Kim Jun-beom = The Chungnam Provincial Government announced on the 5th that it will strengthen the prevention of livestock infectious diseases around the Lunar New Year, a period with a high number of mobile populations. The government will carry out disinfection targeting migratory bird arrival areas, livestock farms, high-risk farms, and regions to block the spread of highly pathogenic avian influenza (AI), African swine fever (ASF), and foot-and-mouth disease. Additionally, it plans to form joint prevention teams with each city, county, agricultural and livestock cooperatives to further strengthen the disinfection of roads and facilities around farms where infectious diseases occur. Promotion banners will be posted at terminals, multi-use facilities, and highway on-ramps and off-ramps to inform travelers about preventive measures. Before the holiday, special inspections of livestock facilities will be conducted to check and guide compliance with preventive guidelines. An official from the Chungnam Provincial Government said, "We will concentrate administrative power to block livestock infectious diseases in conjunction with the Lunar New Year" and "We ask each farm to thoroughly follow basic preventive measures." psykims@yna.co.kr
